A psychotherapy practice in southwestern Pennsylvania. Mindfulness, MBCT, and sports psychology — grounded in the idea that the body teaches the mind.
One clinician, two offices.
Dr. Deborah Sharp Molchan, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the founder of Molchan & Associates, Inc. She sees adults, children, couples, and families in person at offices in Uniontown and Pittsburgh, and online by telehealth.
Her training is in mindfulness interventions, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and sports psychology, with a doctoral focus on the Psychology of the Body. The through-line of her work — the office, the lectures to college athletes at Westminster and Moravian, and the children's book Llama Locomotion — is the same idea: the body teaches the mind.
One practice, many tools.
Psychotherapy in person and online, plus specific approaches drawn from clinical research and decades of training. The thread that runs through all of it is the body.

Sammy the llama can't focus. Until she gets moving.
Llama Locomotion is a children's book about a llama who can't focus, can't sit still, can't quite figure herself out — until movement enters the picture. It's a story, and it's a lesson, and it's the same idea Dr. Molchan teaches in her office, rendered at a child's reading level.
Llama Locomotion is THE go-to book for promoting exercise to children. In a simple and fun way, Dr. Deborah Sharp Molchan clearly explains the connection between movement and learning. — Brooke Suddeth, Editor
